Division of Urban Transport and Coastal Engineering is the member of Faculty of Civil Engineering, founded follow the decision 190/QĐ-TCCB dated the 25 February 2003 by the Rector of  University of Communications and Transport in Vietnam.

Our staff contains 23 members: 02 Professors, 09 Doctors, 09 Masters and 03 engineers.

1. EDUCATION

Inside the Faculty of Civil Engineering, our mission is to manage these undergraduate and postgraduate programs as below:

1.1 ENGINEER OF TRANSPORT CONSTRUCTION – SPECIALITY OF URBAN TRANSPORT ENGINEERING (Code: 25.02.10.08)

Training for Transport Construction Engineer, speciality of Urban Transport Engineering, who can perform the research, design, supervision consultancy, project management, construction of the transport works in general and urban transport works in particular:

    Bridge in the city, town and on other transport lines

   Tunnel and Metro in the city, town and on other transport lines

   Interchange and cross section

   Urban Road, Highway and other level of road  

   Rail line in the urban areas and the suburbs

     etc..

1.2  ENGINEER OF TRANSPORT CONSTRUCTION – SPECIALITY OF COASTAL ENGINEERING  (Code: 25.02.10.13)

Training for Transport Construction Engineer, speciality of Coastal Engineering, who can perform the research, design, supervision consultancy, project management, construction of waterways, harbors and port works.

Training for Transport Construction Engineer who can perform the research, design, supervision consultancy, project management, construction of bridge road and tunnel, special adding knowledge about the international technology and from Japan, highly level of foreign language for international work. This program managed by the Centre for International Research & Education Cooperation and our Division with the help of lectures and scholarships from the universities and companies of Japan.

1.4  MASTER OF TRANSPORT CONSTRUCTION, SPECIALITY OF URBAN TRANSPORT ENGINEERING  (Code: 60.58.02.05.05)  

Training for Master degree in Transport Construction Engineering having advanced knowledge in the research, design, project management and exploitation of bridge, road, tunnel and other urban transport works.

Training time by credits: 1.5 years

 

1.5 MASTER OF INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEERING (Code: 60.58.02.10)

   Incorporation with Division of Transport and Public Works for training of Master degree in Infrastructure Engineering with advanced knowledge in the research, design, project management and exploitation of bridge, road and other infrastructure works.

1.6 DOCTOR OF ENGINEERING IN  PARTICULAR TRANSPORT WORKS (Code: 62.58.50.05)

    Guiding for PhD students, researcher to have highly qualified scientific research issues related to special transport projects such as the special structures construction, new materials and technologies, structures under special loads, the transport works serviced in particular environments or used for special purposes.

   The thesis of this Speciality, must be realized by Civil Engineering Master, concern the particular problems in Civil Engineering such as special structures: flyover, bridge on curve, skew bridge  in grade-separated intersection, tunnel in special geological conditions; transport works under special load or special conditions of materials, technology, environment  ...

 2. SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND INTERNATIONAL CORPERATION

Beside the education mission, the Division has published many textbooks, reference books for academic teaching such as Concrete Bridge, Urban Bridge, Bridge and Tunnel evaluation, Strengthening and Repair of bridges, Bridge abutment and retaining wall, Marine works, Design of harbor, ... Our Division has been involved in many scientific research projects of state, ministerial and facilities, of national and international corporation program. By 2013, our Division has published more than 50 articles in the international journal and international conference, more than 100 articles in major national scientific journals and conferences.

In addition, the Divion has scientific research cooperation programs, doctor thesis cooperation programs with foreign organizations such as Waseda University and the University of Nagaoka, Japan (collaborative research and doctor thesis), Steel-Nippon Steel Corporation Sumikin, Japan (collaborative research, training and scholarships for engineer students, master courses and doctor thesis), Institute of Technology, Shimizu, Japan (collaborative research and doctor thesis), Kawakin Core-Tech Co., Ltd, Japan (collaborative research and provide scholarships for engineer students), Chodai Co., Ltd, Japan (collaborative research and provide scholarships for outstanding students), National Institute INSA de Rennes, France (collaborative research and doctor thesis), University of Darmstadt- University of Technology, Germany (doctor thesis), Freyssinet, France (collaborative research), Bentley, USA (cooperation for civil engineering software support),...

In addition, the Divsion is also involved in major projects in the field of transport construction such as Can Tho Bridge (loading test) Thuan Phuoc Bridge (loading test), Bai Chay Bridge (checking and loading test), Binh bridge (loading test, quality certification, annual monitoring), Nhat Tan Bridge (design checking), the Dragon bridgge (loading test), Tran Thi Ly bridge (loading test), the Ho Chi Minh Highway (design checking), interchange projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (design, checking), ...
